You are only allowed 4 points in a one year period, 6 points in a two year period or 8 points in a three year period otherwise DMV will suspend your license as a negligent operator for 6 months in California.

We have a lot of truck drivers who pick up too many tickets over the road (even out of state tickets count against you)  and need our assistance in these DMV hearings to protect their employment.
